As I've said on my previous post, my post will be Green Tea to give out some informations to those who are interested to learn the benefits of Green Tea. To start with;

"Green Tea is popular in China and other Asian countries for thousands of year. Green Tea has been shown to have significant medicinal as well as therapeutic properties. Like the black tea more familiar in Western countries, green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. The difference between black and green teas lies in their processing. Black teas is fermented, whereas green tea, is prepared from steamed, dried leaves and is not allowed to ferment. Some types of Green teas are lightly roasted. The minimal precessing helps retain the tea's green color to give a flowery aroma and fresh flavor and to also to preserve the active ingredients that produces health benefits.

Green Tea As Coffee To Prevent Cancer

My friend told me that Green Tea is a very good natural SOURCE to PREVENT cancer. So I made a few RESEARCH about how Green Tea can prevent CANCER and other BENEFITS you can get from it.

"According to scientific studies, a compound called POLYPHENOLS in GREEN TEA may inhibit the growth of Cancer Cells and the development of TUMORS. The benefits of these compounds is generally attributed to their antioxidant activity. Several cups of green tea per day are needed to enjoy this benefits."

This interests me because I was DIAGNOSE to have a Pseudomyxoma Peritonei. Pseudomyxoma Peritonei does not act like most cancers and does not spread in any of these ways. It spreads along the internal surfaces within the abdomen, rather than into nearby tissues of the bowel or liver. The mucus collects in the peritoneum and causes symptoms. It may be many years before you have any symptoms from this type of cancer.

So as someone who are aware of having any type of Cancer, it is better to START a habit of DRINKING tea instead of coffee. Green Tea can be a good SUBSTITUTE for coffee. Unlike coffee, Green Tea does not contain a high level of CAFFEINE. Depending of how long it brews, a 6-oz cup of tea has 10-50 mg. of caffeine. It has a BITTER TASTE that coffee drinkers enjoy and the caffeine content which is less than coffee.

Green Tea stimulant IMPROVES concentration and boost ALERTNESS. It can also increase the heart rate and could keep you from getting a good night rest. However, too much caffeine can be HARMFUL in some way as this can result to RESTLESSNESS and INSOMIA.

Whether you have Cancer or NOT, INCLUDING Green Tea in your regular DIET can PROVIDE many beneficial effects. I will discuss more about Green tea and its benefits on my next post.

Having Normal Bowel Movement After Surgery

After surgery, you'll definitely loose your appetite because of the pain or discomfort. But when the pain or discomfort starts to feel better, most of the patients tend to crave for some food that they usually love to eat. It is important to keep focus on proper diet after surgery most esp for those who had the surgery around or near the digestive system.

Some people will experience constipation following a surgical procedure. It is very important not to be straining hard to have a bowel movement. It is good to eat foods high in dietary fiber such as whole grains, raw fruits and vegetables to help prevent constipation and make it easier to have a bowel movement. You have to be sure that you are drinking plenty of fluids particularly Water.

If your bowel have not moved in 48 hours after surgery, you may use a mild laxative like Milk of Magnesia or Agarol. If you are unsuccessful after taking a laxative, repeat 12 hours if there are no abdominal cramps.

It is also advisable to start moving or walking if you can. This will help your system to move and pass some more gas. It depends on what type of surgery. But on my experience, I always try my best to stand up and move. This helped me a lot to recover some energy and provide more movement on my digestive system.

How To Release Gas After Minor Surgery

I feel a lot better now since the Laparoscopy last Tuesday. I still feel some kind of muscle pain around the area but I can do some regular activity. I actually picked up the kids yesterday at school and did a few grocery. This keeps me walking and a good way to spend time with the kids.

Some people think that after a certain surgery, it would be better to stay on the bed the whole day or so. With minor surgery like Laparoscopy, it is advisable to move your body as much as you can eventhough you feel a little weak. Take a walk or do some light house hold chores than lying on the bed for the whole day.

Walking is the best way to release gas inside your body that is giving you some pain. The more you move, the more chance of passing gas. The more gas thats coming out, the better you will feel each day.

Horrible Experience in Mount Sinai Toronto

I just came home from Laparoscopy Surgery at Mount Sinai located at downtown Toronto. My surgery was schedule last Monday March 3, 2008 at 2pm. Unfortunately, the surgery that was being done by my doctor before me took longer than they expected. So they have to cancelmy schedule.

It was very frustrating as I have to fast from 12 midnight (no food or drink) and If I did not made a follow up on the nurse station, I will not know about the delay. The most frustrating part is that, they want me to stay for another day and fast for another day. I went home and promised them to come back early morning the next day, since they told me that I am scheduled for 8am.

And so I went back to the hospital at 7:30am sharp only to find out that I am on the waiting list. It was more frustrating as nobody wants to talk to me again, about the delay or whats going on since I have been waiting for more than three hours already. I have to call and go to my Doctor's clinic only to hear that my doctor is in a meeting for the whole day...OHHHHH grrrrr!!!!

I told them that if the diagnostic surgery will not be done today, I'd rather do home and re-schedule it some other time. I was so disappointed with the system that since my case is not an emergency case, they will hang me in the wall as if they are the only one who have lives outside the hospital. I had my Laparoscopy at around 7pm, March 4, 2008.

I suspect that the doctors dont want to release me right away because my case, as they have been saying, is a rare case. I didn't know that this is how horrible the service they have in Mount Sinai. I was disappointed because I've been hearing many good feedback about Mount Sinai's good International Reputation. Watch out because it's not as reputable as it is.

Laparoscopy In Toronto Mt. Sinai Hospital

Today I am going to Mt Sinai Hospital located in Downtown Toronto to undergo a Laparoscopy procedure. I am a bit scared but keep holding on to my faith that everything will be just all right. To give you some informations about the the procedure, I made a short research on the internet.

Laparoscopy is a surgery that uses a thin, lighted tube put through a cut (incision) in the belly to look at the abdominal organs or the female pelvic organs . Laparoscopy is used to find problems such as cysts, adhesions, fibroids , and infection. Tissue samples can be taken for biopsy through the tube (laparoscope).

In many cases laparoscopy can be done instead of laparotomy surgery that uses a larger incision in the belly. Laparoscopy can be less stressful and may have less problems and lower costs than laparotomy for minor surgeries. It can often be done without needing to stay overnight in the hospital.

I will share more informations and my experiences about Laparoscopy on my future post. God Bless...
