Natural Cosmetics Online

At last my online Store website is done. I can acccess my account again. It is done and I can actually take orders now, but I am not ready for that yet because I want to make sure that the shopping cart and the shipping system is fully secured and will not create errors.

Although the website programmer was already done with the first 25 pages, there are still so many things to do before I can fully launch the website. I still have to buy a domain, complete the UPS shipping registration and add some of my products. I am not satisfied with the design and I want to make it look more personalized. There are still some errors that I overlooked so I have to do it myself.

I still have to do the shipping, Terms and Condition and Privacy Policy.. My vacation is almost done and I still have so many things to accomplish with regards to my online store. Far yet to make money!!!

Benign Vertigo Strike Again

I cant believe that in a very short time, my Benign Vertigo will give me another strike. Although the intensity is not as worst as the first time, it is still annoying and I feel so sick.

I can still walk and do somethings at home. I also was able to go to work and do my regular routine. But I have to ask my husband to drop me off to work since it is not safe for me to drive. I just took the bus going home.

I have not seen my doctor yet, but if this still goes this week, I will set an appointment to my family doctor and see what he can do to ease my Benign Vertigo.

Looking For Beauty Products Label

Cosmetics label can be very revealing if you read between the lines. If you are worried about buying anything with a hramful ingredients look for words "CONTAINS" .... Example, "Contain-Alkali" or "Contain- Hydrogen Peroxide". You can also look for warning. Then from here, you can decide if you want to use it for yourself or not.

Another way to get more information is to look at the order in which the ingredients are listed and locate the ingredients you are interested in. If you want to buy mainly natural ingredients, you can find out how much natural ingredients it contains by reading between the lines. You have to know what plant extracts listed using their latin namnes to avoid confusing cause by regional of common plant names.

Getting Back In Shape After Long Rest

A lot of people belive that there is a secret in having the body beautiful. The truth is there are no secret. You can change the way you look and feel by exercising, eating well and focusing on the progress those changes are making in your life. However there are some myths sorrounding this aspec

One myth that I always here is that, when they stop working out, their muscles will turn to flab. Hmmm, the progress from a skinny or flabby frame to one firm, taut muscles is gradually achieved within the muscles. If you decide to take a break from working out, the loss would occur just as gradually as the gains and even slower. And once you worked your body to a certain point of fitness, getting back to that level after long rest takes less effort that it did to achieve the original gain.

Soaps From Beef Tallow

Soap is made when natural fats and oils are boiled with sodium hydroxide which is a strong corrosive alkali. Sodium stearte is the most common ingredient in bars of soaps and other soap based cleaing products. Sodium and potassium tallowate are also common ingredients of soap. They are produced from beef, or sometimes lamb fat. There is currently no vegetable source of tallowates, but it is possible to obtain stearates from non-animal sources.

Since the mad cow disease, the regulation required beef tallow to be processed at extreme conditions using sodium hydroxide. During the process, a high temperature must be used for at least 3 hours, to ensure all microbes or protein contaminating the tallow are completely destroyed. Additionally, cosmetics and toiletries must not contain any part of the skull, brain, eyes, tonsils or spinal cord of cows, sheep or goats aged 12 months or more, or the spleens of year old sheep or goats. This age limit is reduced if the animals permanent incisor teeth have errupted through their gums.

Products That Came From Animals

Animal products often came from parts of the animals that are not suitable for human consumption. The use in cosmetics of products derived from human tissues, endangered, or protected aspecies are banned. The main animal products used are proteins ( amino acids aobtained from them), and fats and oils used for making soaps and detergents. Although some of these can also be obtained from plants sources or synthesized from petroleum products. Relatively few fragrances are obtained from animals, although musk is a valued scent secreted from the scent glands of the male Tibetan musk deer, musk ox, civet cat, otter and other species. Ambergris from the sperm whale and castoreum from the beaver have also been used in expensive fragrances.

Lip gloss For Dry Lips

My two girls love using lip gloss especially during winter when their lips get so dry. I also use lip gloss during winter season to help ease the dryness of my lips and to enhance the gloss of my lipstick.

Lip gloss is a lightly colored or neutral, non-greasy gel that gives a shine to the lips. It is often an oil in water emulsion or a mineral oil made into a gel by mixing it with bentonite. It is usually put on top of a lipstick to enhance it's gloss.

Hair Dye Chemicals That Can Cause Cancer

There has been many arguments over the safety of hair dyes and some manufacturers have voluntarily stopped using them in their products. The coal tar dyes in hair coloring products can caused allergic reactions in some people. Temporary and semi-permanent hair dyes often contain azo dyes or coal tar dyes which has been said to cause cancer in some laboratory animals and allergic reactions in some individuals.

Some manufacturers successfully lobbied for an exemption for their products by putting a warning label to inform the people that the product can cause allergic reactions to some people.

Cheap Stylish Eyeglasses Frame

I feel bad when I found out that my twin daughter's will be wearing prescription eyeglasses for the rest of their life. I thought for a while that it was their hearing problem that was causing their low grades at school. I brought them to a specialist and have done several hearing test but everything is normal.

There are so many questions in my mind at that time. Why can't they understand the lesson? Are they just slow learners? How come, when I focus teaching them the lesson myself at home, they can easily understand and get the lesson? Was it the teacher's problem? This problem goes on and they always have to attend the summer class every year. Not until last year when I thought of bringing them to our optemetrist for my purpose of using my optical benefits at work. That was the only time I learned that, children until 8 years is the stage where any eye problem can easily corrected. It was too late for them, and I feel bad that they have to wear a prescription eyeglasses for the rest of their life. But I am glad how much they improve on their school performance and have been getting a lot of good feedbacks from their teacher now.

Prescription eyeglasses can be costly. Even if me and husband have optical benefits from our work, I still want to find a cheaper price for their prescription eyeglasses. The insurance do not cover all the price. My kids are growing up and they will usually choose a costly style frame.

Hearing a lot of good feedback about ZenniOpticals prescription eyeglasses, I can imagine how much I can save, when my kids replace their prescription eyeglasses. ZenniOpticals sell stylish prescription eyeglasses online from $8. My kids can choose from their huge selection of stylish frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic) lens, tinted sunglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens. Their price is cheaper because they manufacture the frames themselves which means that there is no extra cost for a middlemen and no advertising budget.

Alternative Coloring Technique For Eyebrow And Eyelash

I thought that it is okey to use hair dyes to color eyebrows or eyelashes. But I have learned that if these chemicals get into your eyes, they can cause blindness. There are actually no approved permanent eyelash or eyebrow colors. In fact, this has been prohibited even in beauty salons or other establishments. Despite this dangers and prohibitations, some people are still using permanent hair dyes and some salons still offer permanent eyelash and eyebrow coloring using oxidation hair dyes. This is common in the summer during swimming season when other types of eye make-up is being wash off by water.

An alternative method for this is now offered by some salon. This involves injecting vegetable dyes under the skin above and below the eyebrows. This effectively tattooing the color into place. This is permanent and there has been no health or safety validation of this technique.

Women Who Needs Mammogram

In Ontario, it is recommended that women aged 50 and older to have a screening mammogram, generally every two years. Evidence shows that women aged 50-69 benefit moost from regular mammograms. The eveidence for ammography for women 40-49 is not as clear as for women 50-69. Therefore, in ONtario it is recommended that women in their forties talk to their doctor to make a personal decision.

Go for screening when you do not have any breast problems. If you are ever worried about any breast problem, see your doctor.

Mammograms For Breast Cancer

Every two years my doctor will send me for a mammogram screening since he found few small cysts on my left breast. Although they are all said to be non cancerous cyst, it is still better to have a close observation by having a regular mammogram.

A mammogram is a low dose x-ray of the breast. It can find changes in the breast, even when the changes are too small for you and your doctor to feel or to see. For most women this is normal.

In Ontario, breast cancer is the common type of cancer for women. As the women get older the chance of getting breat cancer rises. Mammograms can help to find small breast cancer before there are signs and symptoms. If breast cancer is found at an early stage there is a high rate of successful treatment. Also for many women, finding cancer early may allow more treatment options, such as conserving breast surgery or less aggressive treatment.

Diet Pills To Lose Weight

Is it really good to take diet pills to lose weight? On my own experience, diet pills only help to speed up the metabolism. Some can help clean up your system which helps you to lose weight. It is still important to stay active and eat healthy foods. Diet pills will never work if you will not change your unhealthy lifestyle. Losing weight means having a healthy lifestyle.

Certain foods that are rich in calories, fat and sugar or salt should only be enjoyed occasionally, whether or not they are found in the Food Guide. These includes foods such as cookies, chips, candy cars, fries, cakes, pastries, commercia muffins, alcohol and sweet drinks.

Not all diet pills are safe, so it is important to ask your doctor before taking any diet pills. Even those that are said to be made with natural ingredients cannot be condsidered safe. Knowing and recognizing the food guide serving is the key to meeting all your needs and maintaining a healthy weight.

How To Avoid Being Constipated When Travelling

Everytime we trvel or I am not at home for a couple of days, I always end up being constipated for some reason. Our last short vacation gave me another abnormal bowel movement. First, I forgot to bring a lot of bottled water. So since the bottled water is quite expensive at the hotel, I just ignore my needs to drink as much water as I can to avoid being constipated. Secondly, I ignore eating food rich in fiber and ate unhealthy and fatty foods instead.

This is a lesson I should remember on my next vacation trip. I should bring a lot of bottled water so it will remind me to drink as much water as I can. I will also bring fruits with me that will remind me that even if I am on vacation, I should focus on eatinf healthy foods and foods rich in fiber to avoid being constipated during the vacation or travel trips.

How To Determine A Qualified Beauticians Or Hairdresser

Cosmetics and toiletries used by professional hairdressers and beauticians are different to those that you can buy in the high street. Professional toiletries often contain higher concentrations of active ingredients such as hair-perming solutions and hair-removal formulations and they have special labeling rules, that involves additional health and safety informations. This assumes the professionals are highly trained and know how to use these products correctly. Make sure you visit a qualified beauticians and not someone who is inexperienced, otherwise you risk your skin of being burnt or your hair being damaged by strong solutions.

A good qualified hairdresser will know if your hair is too brittle to be permed or the strenght of the solution that can be applied safely. A good qualified beautician will know or be able to establish whether your skin is too sensitive for a product or be able to tell whther the marks on your fingertips are due to normal wear and tear or to a fungus whiuch should be treated by a doctor.

Avoiding Allergies

An allergic reactions is quite different and occurs when our body's immune system is triggered into action by a certain substace that does not normally affect other people. When it is the first time I encounter a certain substance, I know if I am allergic to it because I become sensitized to it, but I dont have any symptoms. Allergen on the other hand, occurs on the second or subsequesnt exposure to the substance.

Simple cosmetic allergies can be avoided by not using the offending product. It may be possible to identify the individual cosmetic ingredient by trial and error, or by simply consulting your doctor and arrange a patch test.

Know If You Have Sensitive Skin

I have a very sensitive skin and I believe that the skin is an effective barrier to most things. Some sunbstances can penetrate this barrier and cause irritation. So the thinnner your skin, the less effective it is in keeping out those irritants. Skin actually varries in thickness on different parts of our body. Try to touch it and you will notice that it is thickest on the palms of our hands and the soles of your feet. The thiniest is on our eyelids. Elderly and young children in particular have thinner and more sensitive skin.

An irritating chemicals will cause more immediate irritations on thin or craked skin than on thick skin. If your skin response quickly to irritatiing cosmetic ingredients, if is fair to say that you have a sensitive skin. If you are sensitive to a particular cosmetic, it best to try another brand with significantly different ingredients.

Why Do We Have Blackheads

Blackheads are black specks that appear on the face, shoulders, upper arms and chest. They occur when hair follicles or sebaceous glands of the skin become blocked with the skin's natural, oily secretions or with some oily chemicals or cosmetic ingredients. The mixture trapped inside the follicle hardens and becomes a olug that blackens on the surface where it meets the air. The incidence of blackheads can be reduced by regular washing and by avoiding comedogenic chemicals.

There is rarely a bacteria infection in blackheads but, if they do become infected, red pimples appear. Whiteheads and acne occur when the infection has developed.

Deep SKin Peeling Informations

The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be reduced temporarily by peeling off the outer layer of skin from the face. This makes the face red, raw and sore for a few days before new skin grows, but this new skin will appear to have fewer fine lines and wrinkles. Cosmetic surgeons use chemical skin peels such as strong acids, or physical skin peels such as dermabrasion or laser planing.

Originally, phenol-based skin peelers were used to dissolve the outer layer of skin cells, but this is a highly corrosive and unreliable technique and has been superceded by the use of tricoloroacetic acid. This chemicals are far more corrosive than any skin peel exfoliant that you can buy over the counter or use in a salon, and they burn more deeper into the skin. Results are generally good, but there are some horror stories of permanent disfigurement and eye damaged.

Dermabrasion involves a tiny, high speed, rotating abrasive pad which is used to skim off the outer layer of skin cells in the same way that a large sanding disk is used to smooth wooden floors. Technology moves very quickly and dermabrasion is rapidly being replaced by laser planing, in which a powerful laser bean burns off the oute layer of skin cells. Result are generally good and the time of writing, there have been no headline of bad effects of dermabrasion.

Liposuction Process

Liposuction or Microsuction also know as suction lipectomry or vacuum-assisted lipectomy is a surgical procedure done by a cosmetic surgeon to remove excess body fat or lipids. This is to improve the contours of the body. It is usually done under general anesthetic and a small incision in the skin where the scar can be hidden in the natural fold of the skin.

A hallow stainless steel tube is then inserted into the fatty layer of the skin and suction is used to remove unwanted fats. It is the same way as the vacuum cleaner picks up dust. It is a normal practice to treat both sides of the body during the operation. After the surgery, there is usually some swelling, bruising an soreness. The fat will accumulate if you start over eating again. So it is advisable to keep good healthy diet and regular exercise after the recovery.

Aromatherapy For Stress Related Ailments

Aromatherapy is a branch of Alternative medicine used to treat a wide range of ailments by massaging essential oils onto the skin. Aromatherapists offer treatments for coughs, colds, burns, headaches, insomia, viral, bacterial and fungal infections, fatigue, psoriasis and aczema.

Mental and emotional disorders are also treated but, as with all branches of alternatives medicine, most of the claims are unscientific and little or no clinical evidence is available to support them. The medical profession does, however, agree that aromatherapy sessions are extremely relaxing and can be successfully treat stress-related ailments and psychosomatic illness.

CRT To Improve Fine Lines and Wrinkles

CRT or Collagen Replcement Therapy is the simpliest ans least invasive of the procedures available for the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

As we age, the network of collagen fibers gradually weaken and become damaged through the constant stretching of the skin, exposure to untraviolent radiation, cigarette smoke and injury. Everytime we smile, frown or squint, we put stress on the collagen in our facial skin and weaken it further. Over the years collagen is damaged and lost from our skin, making it less elastic. The creases that appear when we smile n longer vanish when we cease smiling and we stop squinting, the crow's feet in the corners of our eyes stay with us.

CRT restores the levels of collagen and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can be used to disguise pock marks, minor scars and unwanted dimples.

Causes Of Cancer

The cause of many cancers is still unknown but there are many factors known as carcinogens, which can increase the risk of developing the disease. Cancer usually develops after a long term, low level exposure to the carcinogen.

There are many different types of carcinogen. Chemical carcinogens are chemicals that cause cancer. A notorious example is cigarette smoke which contains tar rich in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Benzene vapor, present in unleaded petrol, is also known as carcinogen. Physical carcinogens include such things as asbestos dust, ultraviolet rays from sunlight, X-rays and other forms od radiation. Some viruses have been linked to cancer. These are rare and are called biological carcinogens.

Many chemicals are cancer suspects which means that animal experiments may have resulted in cancer but the evidense linking the cancer to that chemical is currently uncertain.

Eye Whitening Drops Can Cause More Problem

Eye whitener drops that are available over the counter reduce the red appearance or tired, bloodshot eyes by narrowing the tiny blood vessels that cover the surface of the eyes. When the medication wears off, the blood vessels dilate again, but all too often they become larger and redder than they were before the treatment. The natural response is to use more of the whitening drops and before you know it you are locked into a cycle of using these products habitually. These products should be restricted to occasional use only, and should not be used as a routine cosmetic.

Eyes commonly become red through tiredness, allergy, cold winds or dryness cause by environmental conditions and as a result of injury or infection. The redness may be nature's way of warning us of a more serious condition that requires medical treatment. Eye whitening drops will remove the redness but they will not treat the underlying cause of the problem. Delaying essential medical treatment by masking the symptoms may allow the condition to worsen.

Factors To Consider Before Nose Reduction

In nose surgery, the functional aspects of the nose must be considered. The flow of air though the nose may be unsatisfactory prior to the surgery due to the development or to previous injuries such as broken nose. There may also be a reduced airflow due to allergies and chronic inflammation and this will not be cured by the surgery. In cocaine users, the wall running down the centre of the inside of the nose may develop a hole or perforation. At extreme cases, the nose may collapse due to loss of support from the septum. These are other illnesses which may cause problems with the function of the nose. These needs to be discussed with the cosmetic surgeon, diagnosed and treated if possible before the cosmetic surgery.

Nose surgery can improve the flow of the air, but in reducing the size of the nose, the flow of the air may be reduced. Some measures may need to be taken to imporve this issues. The nose may appear nearly straight, but a twist or bend in septum, may become more apparent as the bridegs of the nose is reduced. Making a crooked nose prefectly straight is exceedingly difficult although much can be done to improve the alignment of the nasal architecture.

Patients who want their noses to be rduced beyond what they likely compatible with, when it is slightly or completely crooked prior to the surgery, should likely not to undergo surgery.

How To Determine The Satisfaction Of Patients

A good cosmetic surgeon must know the importance of selecting the patients who can understand the aim of surgery in their individual case. A host of factors will determine the outcome of surgery. That only some are under the control the cosmetic surgeoon. Here are some of the factors to determine the outcome od the surgery;

* The texture and thickness of the skin.
* The strenght and size of the underlying bone.
* The cartilage and the age of the patients.

But it is not just the combination of these factors are involved. The shape of the patient's area to operate, prior to surgery which detrmines the final outcome. The patient's concern may be the most important factor and this is often not easy to determine in pre-operative discussions.

Concern with small details may be either the warning of a patient who will never be satisfied. It may also indicate the one who will appreciate the result. Obsession with details, on the other hand, indicates that the patient will likely not be satisfied. If definite, relatively predictable surgical maneuvers will likely to give the kind of shape the patient desires and if the patient expresses these desire clearly and without obsessiveness, there is a hgh chance of succcess.

Doubt Feeling About Benign Positional Vertigo

I was told that Benign Vertigo has no special treatment and Drugs are not effective at preventing the attack. It said that it is just a matter of allowing the bouts to run their course but there are things that may helps;

* Avoid head positions that provoke the attack
* Do the exercises that was advcied by the doctor

I still want to see my doctor for some treatment advice, aside from what I recieved from the Walk In Clinic doctor that I went to last Friday. It is better to have asecond opinion than regretting after. I hope I am wrong, but I was thinking if it has something to do with ear infections. Because the word infections needs some antibiotic treatment and not just a simple exercise and wait until the diziness is gone. This I have to discuss with my family doctor.

Few Days After Benign Vertigo Attack

I am feeling a lot better now since I started getting dizzy last Thursday and was told by the doctor that it was a Nenign Positional Vertigo. But I stil feel some heaviness on some part of my head so I will still call my doctor on Monday to set an appointment.

They said the Benign Vertigo occur on all ages, but the elderly are the ones who are affected the most. Unfortunetly, women are twice as likely as men to men it. Each attcks usually lasts less than 30 seconds and tend to come in an hours but usually settle within a few weeks. Most people are able to return to work within a week. The bouts tends to come back after a month or years, but some only have one attack.

I am glad to learn that there are usually no ill effects in the long run. Unlike some other causes of severe dizziness, there is no vomitting, rinitus or deafness. But patients have to be careful in driving.

Causes Of Benign Positonal Vertigo

In most people the cause of Benign Positional Vertigo is unknown and there is often no precipitating cause but it can follow viral infections or accidents causing head or neck injuries.

There are 2 theories to explain BPV;

1. There are tiny pieces of floating debris like small crystals in the fluid of the balance centre of the inner ear (the labyrinth), These bits of sediments upset the balance centre when disturbed. This is the most favoured theory.

2. A problem exist in the neck usually a "kink" in some of the swivel joints. The neck is connected to the balance centre by special nervous pathways.

What Is Benign Positional Vertigo

Last Thursday morning while I was having a message for one hour session, I got so dizzy before the massage session was done. My massage therapist was also got worried about my sudden dizziness. It was actually the first it happen to me while I am having a massage. I wasn't able to go to work and took a rest the whole day and the whole night with hope that when I woke up in the morning, my dizziness will be gone. I am still dizzi and up to this moment (2 days already).

I went to a walk in clinic yesterday and the doctor told me that what I am experiencing is called Benign positional vertigo also know as Paroxysmal positional vertigo. It's a spinning sensation of th head (vertigo) brought by certain position of the head, usually sudden changes of position. The word benign means not a serious condition and is likely to get better eventually.

If until Monday, I am still experiencing this dizziness, I will call my family doctor for futher treatment. It is really frustrating as I am not able to do my weekend plans for my family. I feel so sick!!!

Thinking Of Health Domain

I am thinking of buying a domain for this health blog since the search engine pull down it's PR to zero. I dont actually know why the search engine pull down the PR of this blog since I dont do too many paid posting here. I make money from this site through Google Adsense and I am very happy how it works for this blog.

I just dont know what is the best web hosting I should get my domain from, since there are so many that I can choose from. I guess I just have to wait and learn how things go. I am still making good money lately on my Google Adsense anyway. So it doesn't really matter if I have PR on this blog or not, as long as this blog is still getting good position on the SERP search, I don't have to worry about the PR. But still good to have a second option. I just need to update this blog more often. I feel bad that I wasn't able to update this last week. I will be thinking of another good health topic to post this coming week for this blog.

Bleaching Solutions As Lighteners

As well all know, Bleaching agents are used to lighten the color of hair or skin. They are often potent chemicals and must be used with caution. Dental bleach, under the influence of ultraviolent light, may be used by a dentist to whiten discolored teeth. Denture cleaners sometimes contains ingredients that whitens the dentures and kills bacteria.

Hair is bleached using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and Amonia. This mixture can also be used to bleach stains on fingers nails. However, fresh lemon juice can also remove many slightly marks from the nails.

Hydroquinone is used to lighetn dark patches on the skin cause by hyperpigmentation cause by over production of melanin. It reduces the ability to produce melanin. It takes 3 to 4 weeks for the darker skin to shed and lighter skin to show through. During this time, exposure to sun should be avoided since sunlight porduces melanin production and defeats the use of skin lighteners.

Green Tea For Indigestion

Yesterday I have some trouble with indigestion. I ate a lot then drink only half glass of water then sit infront of my computer for a couple of hours. After about 3 hours working in the computer, I went straight to bed without even stretching our walking around. I can still feel the food that I ate before I went to bed. When I woke up, I felt so much pain on my stomach.

This is the problem when people works the whole day sitting infront of the desk either working on a computer or doing some paper works. The metabolish gets so slow and it takes time before foods to be digested. You have to take a few minutes to strecth every 30 minutes and walk around a little to help digest some of the food that you ate.

So I drink a hot cup of green tea and walk around the house. I did few household chores even if I am feeling some pain. After about 15 minutes, the pain slowly go away. I started releasing some gas and pain was gone.

Why Rhinoplasty Is The Most Difficult?

Deciding whether or not to operate is probably more diffficult in rhinoplasty surgery than in almost any other area of aesthetic surgery, for a surgeon. The psychological effects of a nose which is seen to be unsightly by the patients have likely been present for many years, often present in adolescence. Among other factor, the patient may have been teased by peers, or felt rejected emotionally; felt to be ethnically conspicious. Expectations of the operation may run unrealistically high. Because, the effects of the surgery do not appear immediately, disappointment may set and be persistent.

Restoring Balance And Maintaining Natural Appearance

Rhinoplasty does not necessarily mean reducing the size of the nose which looks too large. This appearance may be an optical illusion created like a nasal bridge which is disproportionally low and wide for the tip region. Instead of reducing the tip which may result in an operated upon look, the surgeon may feel augmenting the bridge area may restore balance and maintain a natural appearance. Maryl Streep's nose is always been a good example of one which has grace and proportion giving an appearnce of beauty without being small.

Modern Aprroach Of Rhinoplasty

The modern approach of rhinoplasty has gradually been developed through the experience and teaching of surgeons. This involves selective, subtle reduction and refinement of the bone and cartilage combines. The key to this concept is that no two noses are alike. So each nose must be assessed carefully as the sum of many parts of the face. The aim is to create a nose which has balance and harmony with the rest of the face.

Rhinoplasty For Small Noses

In contrast for the patients who need nose reduction, patients of non-European who often have noses that are small or thin cartilage and thick skin leading to a nose which is fleshy appearing and lacks definition. In these type of noses, the main attention is directed toward augmenting the bridge and middle third, while giving the tip a narrower to have better shape. This often accomplished using implant of mad-made materials. In some cases, it may be done with cartilage or bone grafts.

Rhinoplasty For The Shape Of The Nose

Most patients who requested rhinoplasty are concerned with the shape of their nose and usually feel one area or the whole nose is too large. The nose must be viewed as a complex structure made up of many structures which need to blend together with the rest of the face. No operation is right for every patients. The surgery must be carefully planned to respect the need for balance and proportion in each patient. That is why, rhinoplasties which were done in earliest years and which are still done by some surgeons, involve reduction of cartilage. This shaves off, narrow the bones and shorten the nose. This often produce a nose that eventually looks like it has been partially ampulated and may even look mutilated.

Root Of Cosmetic Surgery

The history of plastic surgery in intimately related to reconstruction of the nose. Reconstruction of the nose as done in India using the forehead and the use of the skin of the arm in 14th century. Nasal surgery is the root of cosmetic surgery.

The operation has given many patients great satisfaction and increased self-esteem but it is regarded by experienced surgeon as one of the most difficult procedure. The nose is always prominent in the middle of the patients face. Unfortunately the result is difficult to evaluate. It takes many months or longer for the consequences of surgery to become clear. What you may look good two or three weeks after the surgery many not last over time. Plastic surgeons are constantly re-evaluating known techniques and working with new ones for more long lasting, dependable and predictable results.

Some Hair-Care Products Can Cause Asthma

I didn't realize that some bleaches used in hair-care products can cause asthma like, Ammonium Persulfate, Potassium, Persulfate and Sodium Persulfate. There are evidense that some food additives can be dangerous to asthmatics, people with eczema and people who are sensitive to aspirin.

Several of these additives are used as cosmetics ingredients but there is no scientific evidence that they are dangerous to asthmatics. But there is also no scientific evidence that they are safe. Many of these ingredients have restrictions on their use and several have been linked to adverse effects such as contact allergies and dermatits.

Benzoate Can Be Bad

I have a slight asthma so I know and I can feel which product that I am more sensitive with. I must agree in some way that benzoic acid can be one objectable and can produce a very serious disturbances on the metabloic functions like injury to digestions and health. However, there is one confusion to be drawn from this, and that is the interest of health both benzoic and bezoate of soda should be excluded from food products.

Before, benzoic acid, sodiun benzoate and a host of related compounds such as the parabens, are still widely used in foods and cosmetics, including the fizzy drinks that is being consumed by children. They are actually antimicrobial preservatives. Meaning, they are chemicals that kills cells to prevent them from reproducing and infecting the food, and cosmetics. This causes gastric iriitations, numbling of the mouth, urticaria and it affect asthma sufferers.

Some parabens dissolve in water while others soluble in oil. Most cosmetics have both watery and oily ingredients blended togetehr in the form of emulsions. This way, preservatives must be used so both parts of the cosmetic are protected. This is why many use parabens. However, manufacturers are required to follow strict requiremnets for microbes contaminations.

Some Risk Of Laser Resurfacing

Even if bloodless, laser resurfacing is a surgical techniques, there are still risk. The risk of Hypo (under) and hyper (excess) pigmentation are probably significantly less than with traditional resurfacing, but still exist.

Creams are prescribed to help reduce these risks. Infection can occur, and since skin infections most commonly result from bacteria residing in the skin, antibiotics are routinely used for several days after surgery.

Viral infection from the cold sore virus can also be re-activated. Because many of us have the virus even if we do not get cold sores, an anti-viral medication is also used routinely. Beginning two days prior to the precedure and continuing fro several days afterwards. If a cold sore does appear prior to the surgery, the surgery date should be postponed.

Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing

Many facelift patients will benefit from resurfacing around the mouth to reduce the vertical lipstick or smoker lines. The typical shiny, pale result from dermabrasion or peels in this area is rarely seen.

Lower eylid resurfacing is commonly done with a lower eyelid blepharoplasty done through an incision on the inside of the lid, instead of the traditional approach through the incision under the eyelashes The skin tighthening done this way seems to have a much lower risk of complications.

Full face laser resurfacing is now an accepted and widely used treatment for sun-damaged skin, acne scarring and mulitple fine line wrinkles.

Loosing Excess Fats After Surgery

I did 30 minutes slow dancing today as I always do before I had my surgery. But I felt something that tells me, that my body is not ready to start being as active as before, yet. I feel bad because I wanted to loose some fats and I thought I can start doing my usual routine slowly. But I guess I have to wait a little longer untill I feel that my body is ready.

Even if my doctor tells me that everything is okey, it's still my body and I am the only one who can tell whether my body is ready or not, to do certain things or activities. I stopped doing slow walking when I went back to work after my surgery. I guess I have to start doing it again for at least 30 minutes after work.

Reduced Risk Of Complication

The major innovations for the past few years has been the introduction of pulsing technology, which has the ability to send very short burst of CO2 laser energy to the skin which creates much heat in the deeper tissues and allow a much more controlled removal of the skin than dermabrasion and chemical peels.

For many plastic surgeons, because of the precision, the bloodless characters of the surgery and the reduced risk of complications, laser surfacing has replaced chemical peel and dermabrasion.

Use Of Laser For Skin Rejuvination

Lasers have been used in medicine and surgery for years. However, technology has recently been developed to allow the precise use of lasers for dermatologic and plastic surgical skin rejuvination. A carbon dioxide laser beam normally vaporizes anything containing water, and rapidly cuts through skin and any other organs and structures. It's usefulness as a cutting tool, however seems to be limited; the bulk and cost of the laser do not seems to be justified by its ability to reduce bleeding and post-operative bruising and pain.

Several years ago, after a careful evaluation of the CO2 laser as a surgical scalpel for cosmetic surgery concluded the main value of the device was a promotional tool for the surgeon.

Result Surgery Scars Depends On The Location

Location plays a key role in the outcome of surgery scars. Incisions in the upper eyelids, the lips, the groin, and the armpits are especially good. Incision in the centre of the chest, upper back and upper outer arm are particularly prone to bad scars. The face tends to form good scars, if they are properly planned.

Unsatisfactory scars are either thicker, wider, depressed or raised, uneven, or running in a different direction than the normal skin lines.

Normal Scars Formation

Normal Scars formation develops according to a rough schedule. During the first few weeks, the scar develops some streght. It usually looks a little pink when the stiches are removed, but is flat. From 3 to 6 weeks, it becomes thicker and often redder, as it gains collagen protein, and it looks it worst during this phase. Then maturation begins that will take about 6 to 18 months, or even longer. During this phase, the scar continues to get stronger but gradually flattens, softens and become pale.

Best Place For Medical Equipment

Is it safe to sell used medical items online? Some medical items are still functional after one use but they pose great risk of cross contamination. And this can be a cause of infection. Even if sterilization processes can kill 99% of micro-organisms, there is still always a chance that a re-used item could be contaminated.

Equipment in a medical lab can be divided into two categories: one-use items, and larger machines. The one-use items are syringes, scalpels, vials, and anything else that cannot be used on more than one person, or even for more than one sample. Larger machines do not actually come into contact with body tissue or fluids. This includes centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and other devices necessary for the analysis of microbiological agents. Machines of this nature must be regularly cleaned and sterilized, but do not pose any risk of contaminating other samples with re-use.

Medicalmachinesonline.com carries durable used and refurbished medical equipment, including EKG/ ECG Machines, patient monitors, dental equipment, defibrillators, densitometers, blood analyzers, pulse oximeters, ultrasound equipment, stress test EKG's, autoclaves, power chairs/tables, electrosurgical units and anesthesia machines. They make sure to update Best Buys page that contains used medical equipment. They offer customers access to one of the largest overstock and refurbished medical equipment. If you cannot see what you are looking you can call them at (866)590-4878 they will order it for you.

What Heals The Skin

The dermis is a layer of connective tissue with strenght and elasticity from two main structural porteins, collagen and elastin and a rich network of blood vessels and lymph channels. Between dermis and epidermis is a barrier layer called the basement membrane, which prevent most commercial anti-wrinkle and anti-cellulite remedies from penetrating to a level where there might have an effects.

Hair follicles and sweat glands begin in the dermis and end on the surface. They are made up of epidermal cells which exend down into the dermis. This is important for techniques of skin surfacing because with healing, the epidermis must cover the surface involve in removing the surfac of epidermis plus the underlying dermis. The new suirface has to grow out from the hair follicles and sweat glands, and spread out to cover the surface once again.

Reducing Scars For Some Operation

All surgical procedures result in scars. One of the main skills of plastic surgeons is to conrtol scar formation. They do this by carefully choosing incision location and pattern, by gently handling the skin with fine, specialized instruments, and by the skillful and careful repair of surgically or traumatically created incisions and wounds.

The development of minimal incision or endoscopic surgery, is a significant advance in reducing scars for some operations.

Much of how you will form scars, however, depends on the location of the incision, and your racial and genetic pre-disposition to scarring. People with black African and yellow Asian skin are especially prone to excess scarring, and incisions must be very carefully planned.

My doctor told me that I cannot start my exercise routine until next month, because of my surgery. I can only do a normal walking and some stretching. I tried doing Yoga Relaxation and I find it very effective on some of my stiff muscles. Now I need to find a good Yoga Mat.

A Yoga mat is an essential item for the practice of yoga. Yoga Mats come with variety of thicknesses, colours and materials. You have to remember that yoga mats are different from other types of exercise mat.

The next thing I have in mind when I am ready to do some extensive exercise is a Swiss Balls to tone muscles. It is not advisable to use barbells on a Swiss ball as this can be dangerous.

Vakue Of Collagen Treatment

Collagen in skin care product is no value because it cannot penetrate through the upper layers of the skin. However, Purified collagen protein has been injected into fine lines and wrinkles for about twenty years. A simple office visit is required and the injections takes only a few minutes. The skin test for allergy is required, prior to the treatments. It takes several days to see the results of the test. Many doctors do a second test and it is good to prevent allergic reactions to the injected collagen. Collagen Treatments are moderately effective but the effects are relatively transient, lasting only for three to six months.

Aging and sun damage have been treated for many decades with dermabrasion. A mechanical sanding of the skin with a rapidly spinning abrasive device, or by chemical peel- the application of weak acid solutions. Both methods produce a superficial second degreee or partial thickness burn. Dermabrasion cause a mild friction burn, just as we all got when we fell and scrapped ourselves. Chemical peels produce a mild chemical burn.

What Cause Skin Cancer?

The skin is made up of two main layers, the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is a thin layer which acts as a barrier to prevent moisture from leaving the body and fluid and chemical from entering the body. The epidermis is several skin cells , thick and develop from the deeper epidermis, gradually maturing, migrating towards the surface, becoming a keratin protein, factory and finally flaking off at the surface.

Most of cells in the epidermis are skin cells called keratinocytes where the function is making keratin as the structural protein of the skin. There are other cells in the epidermis and these includes melanocytes. These make the pigment which gives the skin it's color and become more active when expose to the sun. When there is a sun damage, there are excess pigmentation on different areas of the skin. Melanocytes are the cells which are linked to melanoma- a serious skin cancer and it's solar radiation which is most responsible for the development if this type of cancer.

Closer Look on Removing Wrinkles

The skins is two layes. The epidermis and the dermis. Hair and sweat glands are lined by epidermis cells and extend well into the dermis.
Dermabrasion, chemical peels and laser resurfacing remove the epidermis and part of the dermis, leaving sweat glands and hair follicles in the remaining dermis.
Cells grow out from the hair and sweat glands to form a new epidermis. The dermis is slightly thinner. After healing, shallow wrinkles may be eliminated, deeper ones are shallower

Who Often Have Wrinkles?

A lot of us always think that wrinkles are usually result of natural aging and drying of the skin. They are actually cause by radiation and chemical sun damage. The radiation comes mainly in the form of harmful sun damage, and chemical injury is most common with cigarete. Many women in their 70's and 80's have smooth skin but exhibit some changes of aging such as jowis and neck bands. People who spend a lot of times under the sun often have thickenes, leathery skin along with deep and fine creases and lines. Smokers often have extensive fine line wrinkles running from the mouth outwards and around the eyes.

Detection Diseases Through Breath

Scientists from the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the University Of Colorado at Boulder have shown that, by blasting breath with laser light, they can detect molecules that may be markers for diseases such as asthma and cancer.

During breathing, we inhale and exhale more than a thousand types of molecules like carbon dioxide and oxygen; distinct combinations and amounts in our breath can be signs of specific diseases. The test, called optical frequency comb spectroscopy, works on the basis that molecules vibrate and rotate at discrete frequencies of light, so their presence- and concentrations- in breath can be identified from thses frequencies.

According to the researchers' article in the online edition of Optics Express, the technique- which has yet to be tested in clinical trials- has the potential to be powerful, low-cost and rapid enough that doctors may someday be able to screen for diseases simply by sampling patients breath.

LifeSaver Drug After Ischemic Strokes

The drug t-PA has been a lifesaver after ischemic strokes, dissolving clots blocking blood flow to the brain and thus minimizing brain injury and aiding in long-term recovery. But it is only if given within 3 hours of onset. An experimental drug, NXY-059, can double that wondow to 6 hours by helping to keep brain cells alive until t-PA can be given.

In a study reported in the New England Journal of Medicine, patients were started on treatment with either the drug or placebo, within 6 hours of stroke onset. Three months later, 4 percent more of patients in the treatment group had fully recovered, and the group overall had somewhat less disability. Considering the lasting damage strokes can cause even these modest improvement are important. (Source: RD-June 2008)

Components Of Migraines

Migraines may not be just a different type of headache- they may be the result of a different type of brain.

According to the study published in Neurology, the somatosensory cortex- the part of the brain that helps process sensory information, including pain- is an average of 21 percent thicker in migraine suferers. Repeated migrain attacks may lead to or to be result of, these structural changes, said the study's author Dr. Nouchine Hadjikhani of the Martinos Centre for Biomedical Imaging at Massachussetts General Hospital in Boston. The long-term overstimulation of the sensory fields in the cortex could explain these changes. It's also possible that people who develop migraines are more sensitive to stimulation.

It was said that the results indicate the brains sensory mechanism are important components in migraine. This may explain why people with migraines often also have other pain disorders, such as back and jaw pain. (Source: RD-June2008)

Payment Of Cosmetic Surgery

Most reputable plastic surgical offices continue with the policy and require sufficient time for personal checks to clear. Many are now accepting credit card for payment.

Financing referal can be more expensive for the patients. Chartered banks will make consumer loans at interest rates far lower than patients would receive through the surgeons offices. You can save more money in a savings account or in an interest bearing certificates through the bank than to pay a credit agency with high interest rate.

Sometimes a cosmetic surgery may result a secondary surgical procedure. Most surgeons will not charge. However, the cost of the operating room and anaesthesia maybe charge to the patient. It is best to deal a second surgical procedure with the same surgeon if you have maintained a good relationship. Clarify the charges before the surgery. Generally, the cost of complications are included in the initial fees.

Role Of Computer Imaging In Cosmetic Surgery

Today the computer technology have played a big role in cosmetic surgery . This allow the patient to see the expected outcome of the surgery. The major concern expressed at the time the computer become available for imaging was that it could be used as a tool to help sell an operation. But it should be to to educate and clarify the possible limits and benefits of the surgery.

Although this has educational value, computer imaging also a source of confusion. Sometimes, patients have unrealistic expectations of surgery. The important needs to communicate can be done in more traditional ways for patints who have realistic expectations.

Causes of Allergic Rhinitis

Allergies are cause by hypersensitivity to certain foods, dust pollen, moulds and animal dander. Allergy sufferers may be affected by any combination of year-round and/or seasonal allergens. Whe the body is affected by substances that you are allergic to Histamine is released by the Immune sytem. It creates changes in tissue that cause allergy symptoms ranging from runny nose, nasal congestion and watery eyes, to wheezing, hives, rashes and itchiness.

Seasonal allergic rhinitis or hay fever, occurs at the same time each year usually in response to pollen in the air. Trees release pollen in the spring, grasses, weeds in late spring and early summer and ragweed in late summer and autumn until the first frost. Sensitivity tends to increase with more and more exposure. Allergies seems to get worst toward the end of the season. Weather condition also play a big role in the severity of the seasonal allergies. You may have more iriitation on windy days when more pollen is airborne. Rain on the other hand, tends to clear the air of pollen and you may find these times more comfortable.

Perrenial allergic rhinitis affects people all year-round because the allergens house dust, animal dander, mould etc- are continually a part of the environment. Allergic reactions may also be trigeered by smoke and perfume. Unlike seasonal allergic rhinits, perennial allergic rhinits tends to worsen in winter, when people are likely to spend more time indoors.

It's spring now and my allergy is starting to bother me. That's why I always have my medicine with me. It's good that the allergy of one of my kids is not as worst as before. Allergies are hard on kids. And they can also be hard on busy parents. Missing school days mean time off from work, skpped social engagements and unwanted interruptions in the day to day schedule. As a parent, you know that when your kids don't sleep, neither do you. And when your child doesn't feel well, you feel helpless and vulnerable too.

Our immune system seeeks out harmful germs or viruses in our bodies and neutralizes them before they can make us sick. But sometimes, the immune system makes mistakes. It overreacts and neutralizes harmless substances called allergens, such as pollen or animal dander.

When the immune system detects allergens in the body, it releases chemicals called histamine. Histamine cause inflammation of the nose, eyes and skin (swelling and redness). The result is whole range of allergy symptoms, including runny nose and itchy eyes or skin. Common allergen are, * Pollen from trees, grasses or weeds, * Dust Mites, * Animal dander, * Moulds, and * cockroaches.

The first step in treating allergies is to avoid the allergens themselves. Unfortunately, creating an allergen-free environment is easier said than done. But it is possible to reduce the exposure to common allergens.

Here are some simple tips to help you fight back the allergies;

Dust Mites
* Keep sheets and blankets clean
* Wash stuffed animals often
8 Don't keep things under the bed.

Pets
* Keep the pet out of the bedroom
* If you have a dog, wash the dog often ( about 2x a week)

Pollen
* Keep windows closed during the day
* Keep indoors when there's a lot of pollen in the air ( usually between dawn and 10 am)

The second line of defense against allergens is medication. Effective medications are available to help remove allergy symptoms.

How To Verify A Plastic Surgeon's Credentials

Many non-plastic surgery surgeons have been attracted to the relatively free-market because esthetic suregery has become a subject as other aspects of health care. Many certified non-plastic-surgery surgeons, non-surgeon medical doctors are now doing esthetic surgery and patients are faced with difficult and confusing choices.

Plastic Surgery certification means a trained M.M has completed three or more pre-medical school years of University, four yeard of medical school and certification examinations and who underwent a further fice to seven years training. First in all aspect of surgery and then in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He/she would then be recommended by his/her superiors for the privilege of writing a written examination in PLastic and Reconstrcutive Surgery, administered by the Royale College of Physicians and Surgeons. If this was all passed then eligiblibility for further oral examination. After passing, he/she will then have a certification in PLastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She/he was not allowed to sit for oral axams until a portfolio of personal cases was assembled and submitted to the Board of Plastic Surgery. The certified surgeon may then feel further experience is a a benefit and enroll as fellow in one of the special areas of interest within plastic surgery, such as hand surgery, cranio-maxilofacilal surgery..

Many doctors don't have this training but have decided to do esthetic surgery. After years of fighting an inter-specilaty with their sister specialists in ear, nose and throat surgery, plastic surgeons are beginning to acknowledge that there is no legal way the field of esthetic surgery can be reversed as their exclusive domain. The argument with ear, nose and throat surgeons may finally be subsiding. However, many specialties and non-specialitist are flooding into the field including other surgical specialists such as eye surgeons (opthalmologist and gynecologist. And even non-surgical doctors like Dermatologist, general practitioners, and even dentists. Beware of those who are claiming themselves to be a memeber of Board of Cosmetic Surgery. You should also ask if the surgeon is board certified and in what field. Ask for appropriate certificates. This should be displayed for eay access.

Whether or not a surgeon is right for you, exthetic procedure depends on many factors. To verify a surgeon's credentials,one of the best sources is the telephone hotline by the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. They will send you information crochures if desired.

Misleading Sources Of Plastic Surgeons

Other sources of informations in choosing a plastic surgeon may be useful or unreliable, depending on the individual situation. Estheticians and Hair Stylists, trainers and instructors, may or may not be a reliable sources. If they see a significant number of people who have had esthetic surgery, they will comment on such issues as scars, and patient satisfaction. However, all surgeons encounter complications, and there may be a tendency to criticize a surgeon because of one unfortunate case. Similarly, Knowing one patient who had a successful surgery is a good reference but it does not mean another patient will have a similar result.

Advertising was banned in professional groups but this began to change in the 1970's. Lawyers argued that advertising was a useful means of informing the public about their services and credentials. Later the court challenges made advertising is possible for doctors as well. For the patient, advertisement may be informative but can also be misleading.

Family Doctor's Role In Plastic Surgery

The family doctor maybe a usefullresource in making a recommendation or give a list of several names. How reliable will depend on a number of factors. Many patients do not ask their family doctor because they believe that their doctor will disapprove on esthetic surgery as frivolous. They are less familiar with the current state of esthetic surgery because of the simultaneous movement of esthetic surgery out of the hospital to the private facility and the decrease role of the family physician in the hospital.

Most are willing and interested to find a good surgeon for their patients. Those who still maintain close contact with their hospital colleagues will be familair with plastic surgeons doing much traumatic and reconstructive surgery. Some of these plastic surgeons also do excellent esthetic surgey, and some do very little. You may need to digg a little bit deeper to be resonably certain, as to how qualified a surgeon is to deal with your particular problem.

The Process of Plastic Surgery In Canada

The most significant and dificult step in plastic surgery is selecting a plastic surgeon. This requires that the patient research the available physicians,, telephone the office, make an inquiry and attend the surgeon's office for initial discussion. Many patients will see two or more surgeons. How to decide where to make the initial call?

* Family doctor
* Wornd of mouth from friends and acquiantances who have had surgery
* Yellow pages
* Magazines, newspaper advertising
* Hair stylistm esthetician etc.
* Internet

Here in Canada, it require a referral from the family doctor because of the structure of the provincial medical plans. Cosmetic surgery is not covered by medical insurance and therefore does not require referral. The consulation usually takes 30 minutes ro 1 hour and sometimes charage a consulatation fee. How many consultations is up to the patient and does not need to be influenced by the restriction of the medical insurance plans.

Cosmetic Surgery For Beauty Search

Patients who come for esthetic surgery do not have the imperative of illness putting them in the hands of a doctor for urgent treatment. Patient will always ask " what do I need doctor?".... There is no need for esthetic surgery, but desirable it may be. Yet there are many decisions to be made for each surgical procedure. The better informed the patient, the better his/her passage through the pre-operative and post -operative phases.

Whether you are a woman or man, favouring of beauty is pervasive. Society values those who are attractive and beautiful. This is why alot of us spen so much energy in the search for beauty. And cosmetic surgery has become a reasonably safe alternative for those who do not perceive themselves as attractive or beautiful. This is a satisfying means of achieving a greater measure of attractiveness and beauty.

A surprising number of patients come for surgical consultations in their 40's and early 30's after being unable to reconcile a feminist ideology with the desire to beautify themselves and stay the inevitable process of aging.

Stupid Decisions From Mount Sinai Resident Doctors

My surgery(removal of cyst on the pelvic area) last for about 3 hours. I was under a high dose of morphin using (PCA) Patient-Controlled Analgesia, which make me feel nausiated and dizzy. I was actually sleeping the whole day.

That next day I tried to walk and was able to do few steps but I was so dizzy so my nurse help me to go back to the bed. I didn't eat or drink but I took a couple of ice cubes just to ease my mouth dryness. But I still vomitted .... But it makes me feel some kind of relieve to release some chemical they used for the surgery and I was able to get some rest. I tried to walk later that day to help my body to release some gas but unfortunately I wasn't able to.

The next morning (3rd day) after my surgery, I feel a lot better and energized so I did a few minutes walk to release some gas. The resident doctor saw me smiling and look a lot better so he gave a a solid food at lunch. Later that day I feel very nausiated and dizzy and having a lot of gas pain. What a stupid resident doctor to give a solid food even if I haven't release any gas. Just because he saw me smiling and look better doesn't mean inside me was already good enough to take solid food.

These is how resident doctors are to some hospitals. They don't really care how their patients will feel after some stupid decisions they made. They did not even give me any medications for the gas pain that day. My nurse just injected a pain medication which made me feel a lot better and I was able to fall asleep. They were expecting me to pass some gas and be able to go home that afternoon but I didn't, so I have to stay for another day.

I walk and walk the next day due my eagerness to go home but I was so unfortunate to release any gas. I didn't eat any solid food but just few sip of water. Later that day the resident doctor told me that I can go home. I refuse to go home because I am not passing any gas yet.... I told them that I will only go home if I have pass some gas. Immediately, the doctor order a stool softener and I was able to pass gas after 30 minutes. So I went home that day!!!

Did you see how stupid resident doctors are in Mount Sinai Hospital In Toronto ?!!!... I wish I can release their names but I can't because I am not as unprofessional as them. But you can track down their names if you are interested through the date of my surgery. April 11, 2008 and I was release from the hospital on April 15, 2008.... They probably need my bed for another patient that's why they want me to go home that day even if I have not release any gas. But I am not STUPID!!!...

Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto is one of the best Hospital in the world. But watch out the decision of their resident doctors as they have less medical experience to make a better decision for their patients!!!!

Ileostomy Surgery - Abdomen's Small Bowel Opening

Before my surgery, my doctor discussed with me all their plans and all the possible procedures they have to do for my case. One of those procedure is Ileostomy. Although my surgeon told me that there is a small chance that Ileostomy will be done on my case, I still need to learn about it so I will be prepared. They gave a small brochure about Ileostomy.

During the ileostomy, the end or a portion of the bowel (ileum) is brought through an opening on the surface of the abdomen called the STOMA. The stoma will stick out from the abdomen about 1 to 1 1/2 inches where the stool will pass from the body.

A color of a healthy stoma is red or pink and moist. There are no nerve ending in the stoma, so it shouldn't hurt when touched. It is normal for the stoma to be large and swollen after surgery, and it will shirk to a smaller size within a few months. The stoma will move slightly as a normal process that pushes the stool through the small intestine. If the stool is bloody, doctor must be contacted. Since the ileostomy has no sphincter muscles, bowel movement have no control that's why a pouch is neede to wear to collect stool.

I was glad that I didn't have to undergo an Ileostomy and I am very thankful to God about it.

Managing Pain Through Intravenous Patient-Controlled Analgesia

Few minutes after my surgery, I was in my semi-private room with my husband and nurse beside me. My doctor was talking to me but I cannot hardly remember what she was teling me about since I was still under anesthesia and pain reliever. It was after a few hours when I wake that my husband told me that my apendix and left ovary was removed and realized that I had a big cut from my stomach going down my lower abdomen. I felt some sadness but have to be strong about this. Be thankful that I was able to open my eyes and start another life. However, starting a new life after the surgery wasn'r easy at all.

Mount Sinai Hospital use Morphin to manage or assist the treatment of the pain within Intravenous Patient Controlled Analgesi (IVPCA). It is a pain medication delivery system enabling the patient to manage the pain. IVPCA allows the patient to press a deleivery button on a PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia) pump, which then deleivers a small dose of pain medication through the veins into your blodstream.

This assestment includes looking at past pain medication use and any drug allergies. Orders are then written based on the information and PCA pump is then programmed accordingly.

Patients are encourage to press the delivery button any time they have pain. PCA pump is designed so that patient receives only a small dose of pain medication each time they press the button. Even if the patient press the button several times over the nest minutes, thepump will not give any more medication until a set time limit has expired (usually 5 to 7 minutes). This is to help protect patients to accidentally giving themselves too much medication. Patients are always welcome to ask the nurse.

It is important to discuss with your nurse about the side effects of the pain medication used on the PCA pump as this can have different effects for each patient. I had experience the usual side effects such as;
* Nausea and vomiting
* Itching
* Fatigue and dizziness
* Constipation

IVPCA pumps have been used for many years to treat moderate to severe pain. The pumps have built-in safety features to help prevent overdose. And the nurse is always there to monitor you.

Since I have some difficulty with the side effects of the pain medication from IVPCA, I only used it for 2 days after my surgery and started the oral pain medication. This helps me feel better since I have less feeling of nausea and dizziness which allow to walk and drink more fluid.
